~CREATIVE ~ARTISTIC ~ CONSRSTRUCTIONS…

The fashion photography had developed simultaneously with the fashion industry in 1920’s. Through the passing of time it became a specialized career among photographers. Fashion shots had become strongly associated with women magazines.

Thus was introduced in the domestic lifestyle and encouraged women to aspire to beauty and fashion.

Through the attractive media photographs the desire for beauty products and clothes became an
epidemic to all women. Beauty became commodified!

The creative process of taking a photograph underwent successional advancements.
During the early years shots were carefully composed now the motorized film allow
models to move freely and become naturalistic.

The digital age allows for the editing of images.
The postproduction stage is where all the excitement happens as they
disfigure images, to sculpture bodily masterpieces.
The image now instead of the model or subject becomes a canvas for the artist.
Today the desires for perfect constructed bodies are sought out by both sexes!
Fashion photography is the ultimate constructed form.

Photographs were mostly based on the representation of sexuality, which lead to the spread of image obsession internationally.

Not forgetting that now every person has this power, with camera’s installed in all high
tech cell phones and almost every piece of office equipment.

We become both the photographer and the postproduction mastermind.

Fashion plays an intergral part in the lives of both men and women. As we now live in a visual age, how we look and how other people see us is very important.

A person can now be judged by their outer appearance hence, fashion is incorporated in creating our identities and can also play a vital role in our life successes.

Men and women follow the trends as viewed in magazines advetisements and on television, hence it is through photography that people can achieve their desired outlooks.

Well done Jyothi!

Fashion magazines have really influenced people especially the youth who aspire to be like the models shown. Fashion have made people not to dress for themselves but only to be seen by others. Photography creates an ideal way a person should look. If you are not the size of the models then you are not considered attractive. The media create a norm to be followed. It create trends through the use of magazines and televisions.

I couldn't agree more with your closing statement that "We become both the photographer and the postproduction mastermind". New media technology have made it possible for us to fine tune products to suit our taste, back in the day once a picture was snapped, you could never strike the same pose twice..but now the possibilities are endless as to how you can play with images.

Great post
